LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP, PA (January 26, 2025) – A Pennsylvania State Police vehicle was struck while responding to an earlier crash on Route 283, leaving three people hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to officials, a state police Ford Explorer was positioned partially in the left lane and shoulder with its emergency lights activated while troopers investigated a prior accident. Most vehicles slowed down and merged right as required by law, but a Volkswagen Passat failed to yield and crashed into the police SUV.
The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, and emergency responders transported the state trooper and two occupants of the Volkswagen to Hershey Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. No other passengers were involved in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and drivers are reminded to exercise caution and follow the state’s “Move Over” law when approaching emergency response areas.
