Athens, NY (January 10, 2025) – A fatal tractor-trailer accident on the New York State Thruway near Exit 21 claimed the life of a Queens man on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. when a northbound tractor-trailer left the roadway, went down an embankment, and caught fire. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Sean Horsford of Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to New York State Police.

This accident was one of two involving tractor-trailers in the Athens area on Wednesday. Approximately an hour later, a second crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the Thruway in the town of Athens.
