Madison County, MS (June 21, 2025) — A two-vehicle crash in Madison County Tuesday evening has left one young passenger dead and two others injured, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 6:29 p.m. on June 17 along Mississippi Highway 16 near Virgin Mary Road. Authorities say 21-year-old Marissa Reed of Mathiston was driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica westbound when she collided with a 2006 Ford Fusion being driven eastbound by 19-year-old Daeshawna Woodard of Canton.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries. However, a minor passenger in Woodard’s vehicle sustained critical injuries and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and has not yet announced whether any charges will be filed.
