Fairplain Twp., MI (October 8, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash in mid-Michigan on Thursday, October 3, left a passenger dead and a driver injured. According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 10 p.m. on South Sheridan Road near Boyer Road in Fairplain Township.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 25-year-old man from West Bloomfield Township was driving a northbound 2008 Audi when he attempted to pass another vehicle traveling in the same direction. While overtaking, the Audi collided head-on with a southbound 2016 Chrysler 200, driven by a 21-year-old man from Ionia.
A 19-year-old Greenville woman, who was a passenger in the Audi, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
