Shenandoah County, VA (April 28, 2025) – A fatal three-vehicle crash claimed the life of a young driver Friday morning along John Marshall Highway, just east of Back Road in Shenandoah County.
Virginia State Police reported that the accident occurred around 8:35 a.m. on April 25. A 2011 Ford F-250 traveling eastbound crossed the double solid yellow centerline, sideswiped a westbound 2010 Subaru Outback, and then crashed head-on into a 2022 Toyota Camry.
Tragically, the driver of the Toyota Camry, identified as 28-year-old Alysia M. Coffelt of Strasburg, Virginia, died at the scene. Authorities noted that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ford F-250, 44-year-old Roy J. Mongold Jr. of Fisher, West Virginia, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment. He was also not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver and an adult female passenger in the Subaru were unharmed, both properly restrained during the collision. Virginia State Police confirmed that charges are pending as the investigation continues.
