New Madrid County, MO – Three Injured in Two-Car Crash on I-55 Southbound

New Madrid County, MO (April 29, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash along Interstate 55 southbound left three people injured Sunday afternoon in New Madrid County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident took place around 4:25 p.m. on April 27 near the 34.8 mile marker. Officials reported that a 2025 Kia K5, driven by a 25-year-old woman from Memphis, Tennessee, ran off the left side of the roadway. As the Kia returned to the road, it was struck by a southbound 2008 Ford Fusion, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Jackson, Tennessee.

The collision resulted in extensive damage to the Ford Fusion and minor damage to the Kia K5. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Ace Towing.

The Ford Fusion’s driver and two juvenile passengers, a 10-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, all sustained minor injuries. They were transported by New Madrid County EMS to Missouri Delta Medical Center for treatment. Authorities noted that all individuals involved were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

The crash also caused damage to a state-owned cable barrier. The incident remains under investigation.
