Amarillo, TX (December 6, 2025) – One person lost their life, and several others were seriously injured following a wrong-way crash late Thursday night in Amarillo.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision took place around 11:08 p.m. on December 5 in the 3800 block of Southeast 10th Avenue. A Ford F-150, driven by 35-year-old Marcos Ramirez, was traveling east in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Lumina.
Following the crash, Ramirez reportedly fled the scene on foot but was later located, hospitalized, and released into police custody. He now faces charges including intoxication manslaughter and accident-causing bodily injury or death.
The Chevrolet carried four people. All suffered critical injuries, and one of the passengers was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators believe drugs were a contributing factor. The crash remains under active investigation.
