Sutton County, TX (August 12, 2025) – A head-on collision Friday morning in Sutton County claimed the life of a Victoria man and left another driver injured. The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on August 8 along U.S. 277, about four miles north of Sonora.

According to reports, a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 58-year-old William Edward Ringland was traveling northbound when it crossed the center stripe into the southbound lane. A 2023 Peterbilt truck tractor with a semi-trailer, driven by Carlos Martinez Salazar, was heading southbound and attempted to swerve right to avoid impact. Despite his efforts, the two vehicles collided head-on.

Ringland was pronounced dead at the scene. Salazar sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lillian M. Hudspeth Memorial Hospital. Texas DPS reported that weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
