Bay County, FL (December 23, 2025) – A man from Georgia was struck and killed while crossing U.S. Highway 98, also known as Panama City Beach Parkway, on Saturday evening in Bay County. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on December 20, east of Chip Seal Parkway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2006 white Dodge Dakota driven by a 51-year-old man from Panama City was heading west in the outside lane when the pedestrian entered the roadway unexpectedly. The man, dressed in dark clothing, was struck by the front of the pickup truck.
Responding troopers and a Bay County Sheriff’s deputy performed CPR until fire rescue and EMS units arrived. Despite life-saving efforts, the 60-year-old pedestrian from Temple, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene by Bay County EMS.
The crash remains under investigation by FHP’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
