Socorro, TX (August 16, 2025) — A head-on crash in Socorro late Wednesday night resulted in injuries to two people and led to DWI charges against one of the drivers, according to local police.
According to reports, the collision happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. on August 13 in the 11100 block of North Loop Drive. Authorities say 52-year-old Uswaldo Alvarado was driving a Ford pickup truck westbound when he crossed into the oncoming eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man.
Both men were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed.
Following the investigation, police determined Alvarado had been driving while intoxicated. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated, second offense or more. His bond was set at $25,000. The crash remains under investigation.
