Encino, TX (November 21, 2025) – A deadly head-on collision early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a local man in Brooks County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal accident occurred at approximately 6:53 a.m. on November 18 along Farm-to-Market Road 430 near County Road 315 in Encino. Joel Perez, 63, of Encino, was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla westbound behind a line of vehicles traveling through a dust cloud caused by a stopped forklift on the eastbound side.
Due to reduced visibility from the dust, Perez moved into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the forklift. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Perez dead. No further injuries or details have been reported.
