Salem, OR (September 24, 2025) – A bicyclist was killed Sunday evening in a collision involving a vehicle on Dr Martin Luther King Jr Parkway near Broadway Street Northeast.
According to the Salem Police Department, the accident occurred around 7:59 p.m. on September 21. Authorities have identified the victim as 45-year-old Andrew Hillier of Salem.
Hillier was riding his bicycle southbound along the sidewalk when he entered the roadway and was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Jonathan Jimenez-Osorio, 19, of Independence. After the impact, Jimenez-Osorio immediately stopped, called 911, and attempted to render aid.
Despite efforts at the scene, Hillier succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Jimenez-Osorio remained on-site and cooperated fully with law enforcement. The Salem Police Traffic Team is continuing the investigation into the incident.
