Los Angeles, CA (November 13, 2025) — A 21-year-old woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a devastating collision involving a semi-truck on the 210 Freeway in the Sunland neighborhood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:13 a.m. on November 12 on the westbound side of the 210 Freeway, just east of Sunland Boulevard. Officials say a gray Toyota Prius, driven by Elyssa Fresquez, crashed into the back of a produce-loaded big rig that was parked on the freeway shoulder. The car became wedged underneath the trailer.
Emergency responders arrived and pronounced Fresquez dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later confirmed her identity.
The semi-truck was hauling over 3 million pounds of produce, and absorbent materials were needed to manage spilled oil. A SigAlert closed lanes 3 and 4 until around 6:45 a.m. as crews worked to clear the scene.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
