Madera County, CA (January 1, 2026) – Two people were killed and three others injured in a devastating crash involving a Honda CR-V and a big rig late Wednesday morning in rural Madera County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m. on December 31 at the intersection of Avenue 13 and Road 23. Investigators believe the driver of the westbound Honda CR-V may have run a stop sign or failed to yield to a tractor-trailer traveling through the intersection.
The impact sent the SUV onto the shoulder of the roadway, and four of the five people inside were ejected during the crash. Two of those individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining three were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries. The driver of the big rig was not injured.
