Phelan, CA (September 2, 2025) – A deadly crash in San Bernardino County claimed the life of a man riding in a Can-Am off-road vehicle after colliding with a Toyota Corolla Friday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:38 p.m. on Caughlin Road, just north of Dos Palmas Road. The Can-Am off-road vehicle collided with a Toyota Corolla carrying three occupants. The male victim from the Can-Am sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at a hospital. Another adult male from the Can-Am and a female passenger from the Corolla were also transported to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Corolla, who has not yet been publicly identified, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Both vehicles sustained severe damage, with the Can-Am destroyed in the roadway and the Corolla suffering major front-end damage. CHP Victorville officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
