According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on November 18. Leandro Aguirre, 43, was driving a 2005 Honda northbound when his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, crashing head-on into a southbound 2007 Nissan SUV.

Emergency responders arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged. Aguirre was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Nissan’s driver, a woman from Apple Valley, was hospitalized, but her current condition has not been released.
