Beaumont, CA (November 18, 2025) – A freak accident involving a loose tire turned deadly early Monday morning on State Route 60 near Jack Rabbit Trail in Beaumont.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. on November 17. A silver BMW 328i was traveling eastbound on SR-60 when its left rear tire detached and became airborne. The tire flew over the center divider and struck a white Toyota Sienna traveling in the opposite direction.
The tire smashed through the Toyota’s windshield, causing the 68-year-old male driver from Los Angeles to lose control. The vehicle collided with the center divider wall and then rolled down a dirt embankment. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A female passenger in the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The BMW’s driver, a 54-year-old man from Riverside, was not hurt.
