El Paso, TX (November 5, 2025) – A woman struck by a vehicle last month in downtown El Paso has died from her injuries, according to authorities.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on the morning of October 24 at the intersection of Stanton Street and 7th Avenue, near the entrance of the Santa Fe Port of Entry. Investigators say a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling south on Stanton Street when the driver attempted to turn left at the intersection.
During the turn, the driver failed to yield and struck 71-year-old Ricarda Meza Escobedo of Juarez, Mexico, who was walking across 7th Avenue at the time.
Escobedo was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, she was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 1. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
