St. Mary’s County, MD (April 24, 2025) – A devastating crash Thursday evening at the intersection of Maryland Route 235 and Mt. Zion Church Road left one driver dead and an elderly couple hospitalized with serious injuries.
The collision happened just before 6:00 p.m. on April 24, when a GMC Canyon, driven by 92-year-old Casper Bradbury Sr. with 90-year-old Norma Bradbury as a passenger, attempted to turn left onto Mt. Zion Church Road but failed to yield to oncoming traffic. A GMC Envoy traveling down Route 235 slammed into the passenger side of the Canyon, causing catastrophic damage.
The driver of the Envoy, 59-year-old Jean Gagnon, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bradburys sustained serious injuries and were airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to area hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.
Authorities closed the intersection for approximately three hours as crash reconstruction teams conducted a thorough investigation. The St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine whether charges will be filed.
