Fresno County, CA (December 17, 2025) – A deadly collision involving a rideshare vehicle claimed the life of a 20-year-old man early Sunday morning in Fresno County. The California Highway Patrol received an automatic crash notification around 1:30 a.m. on December 14. The incident occurred at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and American Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the young man was driving a Chevrolet sedan northbound at high speed when he failed to stop at the intersection and collided with an eastbound Nissan sedan operated by a 38-year-old rideshare driver. The Nissan, which had three adult passengers, was entering the intersection from a posted stop sign.
The Chevrolet driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The rideshare driver and all passengers were transported to a local hospital with injuries described as complaint-of-pain. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
