Vega, TX (October 24, 2025) – A woman was killed and four others, including three children, were injured Thursday morning in a head-on collision near Vega in Deaf Smith County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities reported the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on October 24 on U.S. Highway 385 at County Road 26. Investigators said an SUV was pulling out of a private driveway when it failed to yield the right-of-way and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado.
The SUV driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where she later died.
The driver of the Silverado, 27-year-old Makayla Munoz of Hereford, and her three passengers — children aged 4, 6, and 9 — were transported to Hereford Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
