Fayette County, KY (October 22, 2024) — A tragic crash in Laurel County claimed the life of a 3-year-old boy on Sunday following a collision between a passenger vehicle and a dump truck.
According to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, Ezekiel Russell, a resident of Laurel County, passed away at the University of Kentucky Medical Center due to injuries sustained in the crash. The incident occurred on Friday at the intersection of KY 192 and Boggs Road.
Kentucky State Police reported that the accident happened when the Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 29-year-old man from London, KY, failed to yield and collided with the dump truck. The impact caused both vehicles to travel down the roadway until they struck a concrete bridge railing and fell into a small creek.
Authorities were notified of the crash around 7:50 a.m. Both the driver and Ezekiel were trapped in the vehicle and required extrication. The driver sustained serious injuries. State police continue to investigate the accident.
