Aurora, CO (August 18, 2025) – A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a multi-car crash in Aurora on Friday morning, leaving traffic backed up and one suspect in custody.
According to reports, Aurora Police said the incident began around 9:30 a.m. when officers spotted a stolen Ford Expedition taken earlier in Westminster. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Rodolfo Castillo Najera, led police on a chase along Colfax Avenue and Interstate 70 before officers deployed stop sticks. Najera swerved to avoid them, causing the vehicle to roll. He fled on foot, then allegedly stole another car.
Shortly after, Najera collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Tower Road and 40th Avenue, causing the stolen car to spin into two additional vehicles. Fortunately, the three other drivers were not injured. Officers arrested Najera at the scene and transported him to a hospital for evaluation.
Authorities said Najera, who has a lengthy criminal record, now faces charges including felony eluding and motor vehicle theft.
