Hanford, CA (August 19, 2025) – A late-night crash involving a recreational off-road vehicle turned deadly near Hanford on Friday when the vehicle plunged into a water-filled canal, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:13 p.m. on August 15, 2025, near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Jackson Avenue. CHP said a man driving a 2021 Polaris Razor was heading westbound through a dirt field when the vehicle entered the canal under unclear circumstances.
Four people were inside the Razor at the time of the crash. One occupant was killed, while the three others managed to escape the submerged vehicle. Two were transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center with varying injuries.
CHP indicated that alcohol or drugs may have been contributing factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
