According to reports, the accident occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. on August 19 along Gateway East near Stanley Street. A blue Honda Civic collided with a pink three-wheel motorcycle under circumstances that are still being investigated.
Authorities stated that the rider of the motorcycle, an adult male, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
The driver of the Civic was identified as Manuel Esquivel Alvarez, a lieutenant with the El Paso Fire Department. He was arrested at the scene and later charged with intoxication assault. After being taken to Del Sol Medical Center, he was booked into the El Paso County Jail and released the following day on a $15,000 bond.
