Riverside County, CA (January 7, 2025) – Authorities have identified 75-year-old Cathy Coiner of Riverside as the victim in a fatal suspected DUI collision that occurred Saturday evening.
The Riverside County Police reported that the crash happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Collett Avenue and Stonewall Drive.
Coiner was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty eastbound on Collett Avenue and had slowed to make a left turn when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2014 Toyota Tundra driven by a 38-year-old man from Norco. The force of the impact pushed the Jeep into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with a red 2014 Toyota C-HR driven by a 70-year-old Riverside man.
Coiner was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities arrested the Tundra driver on suspicion of driving under the influence, and he was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
