Merrimack, NH (January 4, 2025) – A single-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack led to the closure of all northbound lanes for two hours Saturday evening. The incident resulted in serious but non-life-threatening injuries to the driver, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:28 p.m. near the Exit 10 offramp. Authorities say Michael Ruiz, 19, of Nashua, was driving a Honda Accord when the vehicle struck construction barrels and veered down an embankment, stopping at the edge of the woods. Emergency responders from Troop B, Merrimack Fire and Rescue, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation were dispatched to the scene.
Ruiz, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Speed is believed to have been a factor, and Ruiz was cited for reckless driving. The investigation is ongoing.
