Davis, CA (August 27, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a motorcycle and multiple vehicles occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 East near the Mace Boulevard southbound on-ramp, leading to extensive freeway closures and a coroner response.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was first reported at approximately 4:48 a.m. on August 26. Initial dispatch described a red motorcycle striking or being struck by a white four-door sedan and a red flatbed big rig tow truck. The rider was found down in the roadway between lanes 2 and 3 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
All eastbound lanes of I-80 were blocked for several hours as CHP officers, Davis Fire Department, and tow services responded. A flatbed was called to remove the damaged 2004 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic. The coroner was notified, and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
CHP continues to investigate what led up to the chain-reaction crash and is determining fault.
