Riga Township, MI (August 27, 2025) – A deadly crash involving an Amazon delivery van claimed one life and left two others injured Monday evening in Lenawee County.
According to the Michigan State Police, the two-vehicle collision occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on August 25 at the intersection of US Highway 223 and Riga Highway in Riga Township. A 25-year-old man from Perrysburg, driving an Amazon-branded van, had stopped at a stop sign on Riga Highway and then proceeded through the intersection. As he continued northbound, his vehicle entered the path of a Ford Focus traveling eastbound on US-223.
The Ford, driven by a 69-year-old Adrian man, struck the van. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. His passenger, a 63-year-old Adrian woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Amazon driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Authorities confirmed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
