Yuba City, CA (August 28, 2025) — A tragic crash involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a Sacramento woman and left another person with major injuries on Tuesday morning in Sutter County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision occurred around 11:39 a.m. on August 26 at the intersection of Obanion Road and George Washington Boulevard, just outside of Yuba City. The 31-year-old woman was driving east on Obanion Road when her vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a semi-truck heading south.
Witnesses told CHP that the woman appeared to attempt a stop at the posted sign but was unable to avoid the collision. The semi-truck, hauling two loaded dump trailers and traveling approximately 55 mph, crashed into the driver’s side of the car. The impact sent the vehicle into a nearby orchard.
The driver died at the scene. Her passenger suffered major injuries and was transported by air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center. The semi-truck driver, a 30-year-old man, was uninjured and remained on site to cooperate with investigators.
