Newhall, CA (September 1, 2025) – A collision involving a Mazda and an SUV towing a trailer led to two people being injured Sunday morning on Interstate 5 just north of State Route 14.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:10 a.m. on August 31. A white SUV pulling a trailer loaded with Jet Skis had pulled over in the gore point area of northbound I-5. The driver exited the vehicle to inspect the trailer when a northbound Mazda suddenly swerved into the same area and struck the SUV and its trailer.
The impact caused the trailer to overturn, trapping the SUV driver beneath it. Emergency crews transported the driver to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia with moderate injuries. The Mazda driver sustained minor injuries. Two passengers in the SUV were not hurt. Authorities do not believe impairment was a factor. The incident remains under investigation.
