Bakersfield, CA (September 3, 2025) – A 63-year-old woman was killed early Tuesday morning in a rollover crash on Highway 99, north of David Road, according to California authorities.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. on September 2. A 2000 Honda Accord traveling northbound on Highway 99 veered off the roadway and onto the east shoulder, where it struck a dirt berm.
The impact caused the vehicle to lose control and overturn, eventually coming to rest in a dirt field. A 63-year-old female passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected during the rollover and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, who suffered moderate injuries, was transported to Kern Medical for treatment. CHP believes the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the crash.
