According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred at around 6:40 p.m. on August 29 on Caughlin Road, just north of Dos Palmas Road. Family reported that Pulido was operating a Can-Am off-road vehicle when it collided with a Toyota Corolla driven by 28-year-old Joshua Veve of Hesperia.
Pulido was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His 13-year-old brother, who was riding as a passenger, suffered a dislocated shoulder and received medical care.
