New Braunfels, TX (September 4, 2025) – A high-speed rollover crash claimed the life of a Schertz man Tuesday afternoon along a busy stretch of Interstate 35 in New Braunfels.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal wreck occurred around 2:30 p.m. on September 2 in the 2900 block of Interstate 35 North, near Buc-ee’s and the Town Center at Creekside shopping area.
Authorities say 34-year-old Damion McClendon was driving a silver Ford Fusion at a high speed and weaving through traffic when he sideswiped a Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The collision caused McClendon to overcorrect, leading the Ford to roll over in the northbound lanes.
McClendon, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was not injured. Interstate 35 was shut down for more than three hours while officials investigated and cleared the crash site.
