Monroe, WA (September 8, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision Saturday evening claimed the life of a 22-year-old man near Monroe in Snohomish County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened around 5:48 p.m. on September 6 on United States Highway 2 near Fern Bluff Road. Gavin J. Wright, a Monroe resident, was driving a Toyota Tacoma eastbound when he crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2017 Ford F-350.
Wright, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford, 59-year-old Karl Poulsen, was properly restrained and sustained injuries. He was transported to Evergreen Health in Monroe for treatment. The severity of his injuries has not been disclosed.
Investigators believe alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the incident. The crash remains under active investigation.
