Portland, OR (September 9, 2025) – A young man lost his life in a tragic motorcycle crash in Northeast Portland that later led to a secondary incident involving the ambulance transporting him.
According to the Oregon State Police, the crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on September 2 near the intersection of Northeast Lombard Street and 15th Avenue. Alexander James, 26, of Happy Valley, was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a car under still-unclear circumstances.
Emergency crews responded promptly and began transporting James to a nearby hospital. However, during transit, the ambulance was involved in a second collision near Lombard Street and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. A second ambulance was dispatched, but tragically, James was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver involved in the initial collision sustained minor injuries. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
