Lubbock, TX (September 9, 2025) – A serious crash involving a semi-truck and a patrol vehicle left two Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies hospitalized Monday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the two-vehicle collision occurred just before 9:45 a.m. on September 8 near Interstate 27 and 98th Street. Deputies Cavazos and Martinez were providing assistance to a stranded driver on the southbound side of I-27 when a semi-truck struck their patrol unit.
The impact pinned the deputies between the disabled patrol unit and the guardrail of the 98th Street overpass. Both officers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to University Medical Center for emergency treatment.
An additional individual involved in the incident was also taken to UMC with moderate injuries.
