Hauppauge, NY (September 9, 2025) – A 23-year-old woman from Brentwood suffered serious injuries Monday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash involving a scooter and three vehicles in Hauppauge, Suffolk County Police confirmed.
According to Suffolk County Police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:42 p.m. on September 8 at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Motor Parkway. Authorities say the woman was riding her scooter northbound on Washington Avenue and attempted a left-hand turn onto Motor Parkway when she collided with a 2010 Chevrolet traveling eastbound.
The Chevrolet, driven by 25-year-old German Castro Penuelas of Brentwood, was forced into a 2009 Jeep waiting in the left turning lane. The Jeep, in turn, was pushed into a 2003 Mazda also stopped in the same lane.
The woman, identified as Seijas, was ejected from the scooter and transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Penuelas, his 17-year-old passenger, and two adult occupants of the Mazda were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All involved vehicles were impounded for safety inspections. The investigation is ongoing.
