San Jose, CA (September 10, 2025) – A woman riding an electric scooter was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday morning at the intersection of Santa Clara Street and Cahill Street, near the SAP Center in San Jose.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m. on September 8. The victim, identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office as 52-year-old Monica Ibarra of San Francisco, was traveling northbound in a marked crosswalk when a black 2021 Ram pickup truck heading eastbound struck her.

Ibarra was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Authorities said the driver fled the scene. The Ram truck was later found abandoned and confirmed to be stolen. As of this writing, the driver has not been located and remains at large.
