Chicago, IL (September 13, 2025) A man has died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.
According to the CPD Major Accidents Unit, the collision occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on September 12 at the intersection of South Sacramento Boulevard and West Arthington Street. Investigators say a 42-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet sedan southbound on Sacramento Boulevard when she collided with a Nissan SUV driven by a 55-year-old man.
The impact caused serious injuries to the male driver, later identified as Leon Jordan. He was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed his identity.
Authorities have not said whether charges or citations are expected as the crash remains under active investigation.
