Lake Grove, NY (September 14, 2025) – A collision between a passenger car and an electric bike left one person seriously injured Saturday afternoon in Lake Grove, according to Suffolk County Police.
According to the New York State Police, the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. on September 13. A 2017 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 79-year-old Diane Staudacher of Port Jefferson Station, was traveling east on Burr Lane and attempted to turn left onto northbound Moriches Road. During the turn, the Hyundai struck a 2025 Surro e-bike that was heading westbound on Burr Lane.
The impact threw the e-bike rider from the vehicle. Emergency crews transported the rider to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Staudacher was also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Both vehicles involved in the crash were impounded for safety inspections. The investigation remains ongoing.
