Bexar County, TX (September 15, 2025) – Multiple people, including two Bexar County deputies and a juvenile, were hurt late Saturday night in a serious crash at a busy intersection in Bexar County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on September 13 at the intersection of North Weider Road and Interstate 35 North. Authorities reported that 19-year-old Matthew David Castilleja was recklessly weaving through traffic in a maroon 2007 BMW 335i on Interstate 35 South.
Deputies initiated a pursuit after witnessing Castilleja’s traffic violations. The chase was briefly paused before resuming when Castilleja reappeared. He then allegedly ran a red light at Weider Road, causing a patrol vehicle to collide with a red truck and a blue SUV.
One deputy suffered a head laceration and possible concussion, while another reported wrist pain. Several others, including an unrestrained juvenile in the truck, were also taken to the hospital.
Castilleja fled the scene but was later found at a residence tied to his girlfriend. He admitted to fleeing out of fear and was arrested for felony evading arrest.
