NORTHPORT, ME (January 16, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision involving a car and a semi-truck left one man critically injured Wednesday morning on Atlantic Highway in Northport.
The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred at 10:27 a.m. near box 1422, just south of the Belfast town line. Authorities identified the drivers as Cody Arsenault, 31, operating a 2006 Subaru Outback, and Alejandro Sicaju, 51, operating a 2024 Freightliner with an enclosed semi-trailer.
Investigators say Arsenault, traveling southbound, crossed the centerline while attempting to pass a slowing vehicle and collided head-on with Sicaju’s northbound truck. Arsenault was ejected from his vehicle, suffering life-threatening injuries. He was first transported by ambulance and later airlifted by LifeFlight of Maine for advanced medical care. Sicaju sustained minor injuries and was treated at Waldo County General Hospital.
Atlantic Highway was closed for several hours as Maine State Police reconstructed the crash and assessed the semi-truck’s condition.
