Shasta County, CA (September 17, 2025) – A devastating single-vehicle crash in rural Shasta County claimed the lives of a woman and a young boy early Monday morning, according to authorities.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on September 15 along Wildcat Road, east of Rancheria Creek Road. A 1992 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound when it veered off the roadway and down an embankment, eventually coming to a rest on its right side against a tree.
All three occupants of the SUV were ejected during the crash. The 40-year-old female driver and an 8-year-old boy were pronounced deceased at the scene.
An 11-year-old boy, also in the vehicle, survived and was rushed to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with injuries. Authorities stated that none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
