Fishkill, NY (September 17, 2025) — A veteran New York State Police sergeant was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Tuesday morning on the Taconic State Parkway.
According to New York State Police, Sgt. Nigel Barnett, 49, was traveling southbound through the Town of Fishkill at approximately 6:30 a.m. on September 16 when the crash occurred. Barnett was riding a 2025 Ducati motorcycle when he lost control and was ejected, striking a guardrail.
Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Sgt. Barnett served with the New York State Police for 19 years and was the station commander in Cortlandt at the time of his death.
