San Diego County, CA (September 19, 2025) – A devastating head-on collision along a rural stretch of Otay Lakes Road near State Route 94 claimed at least one life and left multiple others seriously injured on Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:18 p.m. on September 17. Two vehicles collided head-on, fully blocking both lanes of traffic. Emergency responders from CAL FIRE and other agencies arrived to find one driver trapped inside their vehicle and suffering from significant bleeding.
Three people were injured in total. One person required CPR on scene and was later pronounced dead. Another patient was airlifted from a landing zone on Honey Springs Road, while a third was transported to Sharp Grossmont Hospital. A white van and a second unidentified vehicle were both involved, and extensive extrication was required at the scene.
The crash prompted a full road closure, and evidence tows were requested for both vehicles involved.
