Charlotte, NC (January 18, 2025) – A fatal collision in the North Tryon Division of Charlotte claimed the life of 34-year-old Bianca Gebremedhin on Friday morning.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported that officers responded to the 6800 block of The Plaza at 9:22 a.m. A Honda Accord with extensive front-end damage and a Ford Transit van were involved in the crash.
Bianca Gebremedhin, the driver of the Honda Accord, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Novant Presbyterian Medical Center, where she later died. Investigators confirmed that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Ford Transit van was driven by 34-year-old Anthony Williams, who had a juvenile passenger. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ms. Gebremedhin lost control of her vehicle while traveling eastbound, veering out of her lane and colliding with the van traveling in the opposite direction. Authorities are investigating whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the crash.
