Raleigh, NC (September 20, 2025) – A tragic Friday night in Raleigh left one woman dead and at least six others hospitalized following two serious vehicle crashes across the city.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, the first crash occurred around 8:38 p.m. on September 19, 2025, at the intersection of Tryon Road and Trailwood Drive. Investigators say a Kia Forte traveling east on Tryon Road collided with a white Honda Accord in the intersection.
The passenger of the Accord, 39-year-old Lina Fernanda Ramos Velasco, died at the scene. Two additional individuals, including a child, were also injured but are expected to recover.
Police confirmed that neither driver showed signs of impairment. Tryon Road was temporarily closed while investigators documented the scene. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
Just minutes earlier, a separate three-vehicle crash at Brier Creek Parkway and Glenwood Avenue sent four others—including two children—to the hospital as a precaution.
