Hillsborough County, FL (September 20, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a motorcycle shut down part of southbound Interstate 275 in Lutz Friday afternoon, causing significant traffic delays as emergency crews responded to the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on September 19, 2025, between the Bearrs Avenue exit and the State Road 56 exit. Investigators say a 34-year-old man from Bushnell was riding a motorcycle southbound on I-275 when he struck a Nissan Rogue while changing lanes.
The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected. His motorcycle then slid into the path of a third vehicle and was struck again. Tragically, the motorcyclist died at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
Lanes were reopened later in the afternoon as the investigation continued.
