Kane, PA (September 23, 2025) – A tragic early-morning crash into a state-run liquor store in Kane ignited a fire that left one person dead, three others rescued, and five families displaced on Sunday, September 21.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident happened at 3:54 a.m. at the Fine Wine & Good Spirits store located at 124 North Fraley Street. Kane Volunteer Fire Department was the first to arrive and discovered a vehicle had crashed into the building, sparking a fire and producing heavy smoke.
The male driver, whose name has not been publicly released, was pronounced dead at the scene by McKean County Coroner Michael Mascho. Three other people were rescued, one of whom was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.
Officials say the blaze caused significant damage to the building. Seventeen emergency agencies responded to the scene, and the Red Cross is assisting displaced families.
